Policies

UNDERGRADUATE RULES & PROCEDURES

The following only applies to Undergraduate Production classes. For IMA MFA Integrated Media Arts Rules & Procedures please see further down the page.

  • Our normal Pickup/Return schedule is Pickups on Thursdays and Returns on Mondays.
  • Students and Faculty will now be able to book equipment online at hcfmresource.getconnect2.com. (Professor approval of each booking will no longer be required unless contacted by the equipment room.)
  • Bookings must be made at least 5 days in advance of the pickup date.
  • This means the average deadline for booking online for the next week are on Fridays at 5:00pm.
  • Equipment is distributed between the hours of 9:30am-12:00pm 1:00pm-4:30pm on Thursdays (by appointment) and returns are from 9:30-12:00pm 1:00pm-4:30 on Mondays.
  • Equipment may be reserved up to three times per student per semester. Rental fees and procedures will apply thereafter.
  • Request only the equipment and supplies you need. Last minute additions and cancellations deny others the use of the equipment and can come with fines. We highly suggest you come with one or two extra group members to help carry the equipment. As some of it can be cumbersome.
  • Student must present their Hunter ID card or Digital ID card when picking up equipment. The name on the booking must match the ID card. This means the person who made the booking must be present during the pickup or we will not be able to give the equipment out.
  • If you fail to pick up reserved equipment without notification, or fail to cancel your reservation by 5pm the previous day of pickup, you will incur a fine of $10. You may cancel your reservation in person, by email, phone, or on the website.
  • You are required to thoroughly check all equipment when they come to pick it up. We are not responsible for any malfunctions/missing pieces once they leave the office.
  • The equipment office is not responsible for charged batteries. Please plan accordingly.
  • We reserve the right to cancel any equipment loans if we are not fully satisfied with the students' competency and proficiency in handling the equipment.
  • You are fully responsible for the equipment you borrow. Replacements and repair costs are determined solely by the Technical Director of the Department of Film and Media.
  • If equipment is not returned on the stated date or upon request, a late fee of $3.00 per item per day will be incurred. Note: Some items are not considered just one item, but the sum of all of their accessories. Ex: LED Kit comes with 3 lights, 3 stands, and the case so it’s 7 items.
  • If fees are incurred you will be placed on the STOP list. If you are on the STOP list you will not be able to borrow equipment. If escalated, you may not receive a final grade from your professor, you may not be able to register for future classes and graduation, and security will consider any non-returns to be stolen.
